In just over one year KIDS Place Early Learning Childcare has gone from opening its doors to achieving a Level 3 certification as a Paths to Quality Provider.

Paths to Quality is Indiana’s Child Care Quality Rating and Improvement System. It “validates child care programs for ongoing efforts to achieve higher standards of quality and provides incentives and awards for success," according to the Family and Social Services Administration website.

Levels are awarded based on the standards identified below.

• Level One: Health and safety needs of children met

• Level Two: Environment supports children’s learning

• Level Three: Planned curriculum guides child development and school readiness

• Level Four: National accreditation (the highest indicator of quality) is achieved

KIDS Place was certified Level 1 shortly after opening in August last year and was able to advance beyond Level 2 to Level 3 this month due to the commitment and hard work of the staff to offer quality education and care. Director Stacy Daugherty noted that “we need to obtain additional training and certification for some members of the teaching staff to be ready for Level 4.”
