One of our core values here at East Side is Jesus. That’s right—we want to lift up Jesus in everything we do and in all that we are so that people can discover hope for their lives. It might seem a little cliché for a church to say that Jesus is a core value. I mean, what else would you expect?

But we live in a world where many things compete for our attention, and too often those things crowd Jesus out of our daily lives. When that happens, we end up settling for less than the life Jesus calls us to experience. This is especially true during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

This year, we want to offer you an alternative—a way to keep Jesus at the center of your Christmas.

We’re partnering with several sister congregations of the Church of God across the country to provide an Advent journal for your use beginning November 30. Advent is the season when Christians around the world prepare for Christmas. For the four Sundays leading up to Christmas Day, followers of Jesus intentionally make space in their hearts for the celebration of His birth.

The Simple Advent Journal includes daily scripture readings and reflections, family activities, and meaningful ways to celebrate the real story of Jesus’ birth.

We believe this tool will help you stay focused on Jesus throughout the holiday season. In fact, we believe in it so much that we’re providing the journals free of charge.
